This week was spent in the “FREEZING” cold outside A Block.
We done willow sculpturing with horticulturist,Breda Marron.
The sculpture were made to represent people coming together.
My god it was freezing. And i got my good jacket dirty
Never the less it was still a different experience.
This week we learned about the rule of third and also the golden mean.
We also looked at design principles. These are:
*Space
*Balance
*Movement
*Proportion
*Contrast
*Emphasis
*Unity
*Simplicity
This week was about the multimedia software (my favourite!).
We familerised ourselfs with the Adobe software.
This was Adobe Photoshop,Fireworks, illustrator and end design.
The lab session was about Adobe photoshop as it is what we will mainly use.
We also learned about image formats, their layouts and also about resolution.
This week was the trip to the botanic gardens.
We done five Exercises for the Visual language Module.
The different styles used were: Contour, Blind Contour, Negative Space,Texture and Natural Pattern .
Unfortunately I did not make it to the botanic gardens but thanks to Stephen Sheridan we had the opportunity to take photos on campus using these styles.
This week was all about the colour sepcturm. These are primary and secondary colours and also how to use a colour wheel.
There are different types of drawing which are monochrome, analogue, triad and also complimentary.
We also painted patterns using the different types of these drawing styles.
P.S…..Sorry for the late update on my blogs
This week we were shown different sketch methods. These included contour drawing,Implied line,Blind contour and negative space. The Contour drawing was a basic outline of an object(Bottle) to show the shape. Implied line put more detail into the object. With blind contour we draw our hand by looking at the hand and not the pad. The outcome will not be as good as you think but it is good in order to understand how to focus on an object without referring back to your notepad. Negative space is the space outside the object shaded to show the object in a different perspective.
This week we were introduced to the visual language module and shown what be involved this semester. We were given an outline of the project at hand. It includes writing a short paragraph about yourself and your hobbies. Next, three thumbnail picture’s or sketch’s were drawn and these illustrated what your hobbies are. You’re most favourable hobbie would then be drawn on an A4 sheet and be uploaded to our blog!
Hope you like my crazy drawings!
